When I was for the first time in Stratford Upon Avon, I had a strange feeling. First, I was expecting to see an impressive town, even small. Actually, Stratford Upon Avon it was a perfect place to begin a family bussiness. People used to sell there a lot of things, like cookies, alcoholic drinks, hand made cloths, furniture, spoons, forks and knifs ( first from wood and then from metal), etc.

Shakespeare family has a business too - they used to sell leather hand made gloves. In that perioud of time (the XVI century) to wear gloves it was a must have. So, the price increased more and more. Otherwise, the gloves making was a very harsh job and the child William tried to escape every time from this work.
The most amazing thing for me was the way they used to sleep there. To have a bed it was a real luxury. Only the mother and the father had the right to sleep in a bed . This was because it cost like a half price house in that time - a fortune. Only the reach people could afford a bed in their house. And Shakespeare's parents used to have it.
All the children, house keepers and another relatives they have to sleep on the floor, using a carpet made fom corn leaves. No pillow, no blanket, just a piece of canvas to cover their body. And they used to sleep like this.
What else can you visit in the Stratford Upon Avon? You can see the Butterfly Farm or you can have a romantic boat ride on the Avon River.

      If I would not get the opportunity to see Hakkari through an Youth in Action project, I probably would have never visit ed this blessed town, settled in the middle of the mountains. Bitola. It's all about history here

Thanks to Youth in Action programme again, I came across an old, historical, Macedonian city called Bitola. Situated in the S-W part of Macedonia, Bitola settles at the foot of Baba Mountain and it is crossed by the Dragon River.   The place represents an important junction between the Adriatic Sea, the Aegean Sea and Central Europe. You would never guess, but this city has an impressive history.     It was founded as Heraclea Lyncestis (City of Hercules upon the Land of the Lynx) in the middle of the 4th century BC by Philip II of Macedon and it was an important settlement from the Hellenistic period until the early Middle Ages. Then, the Romans conquered this part of Macedon in 148 BC and destroyed the political power of the city. Still, the city remained prosperous because of the Via Egnatia Roman road which passed by the city. 1. The Prisons I was so anxious about this summer school. I was thinking many times if it is a good idea to participate or not. I was afraid that I will not be able to take more information about the crimes during communism because already I knew something from Roxana (my colleague from the Historical Film Festival Summer School) and it was so painful to find out what happened in those cruel times.  Roxana:) After her story, I couldn’t sleep a couple of nights.
